Watch the video above and answer the following questions:
- What equipment do you need to develop sheet film?
The equipment that you need to develop sheet film is a thermometer recommended for photography as it will be optimised for what you will be doing and a minimum of three trays, but you don’t need to buy the trays you can use any from what you find around your house but best suggest to buy photographic trays, preferred plastic trays over metal because they are a lot cheaper and also act as an insulator they keep the chemistry temperature more stable. Look for trays with groves at the bottom so you can easily get your finger underneath the film, as it could be difficult to get the sheet out if it is a flat bottom.
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of tray processing?
Advantages | Disadvantages |
· Very little equipment needed · No special processing area needed but you do need total darkness · You get excellent results with tray processing · Flexible process one sheet of film or many sheets of film · Set up very fast · Suitable for black and white · Not well suited for colour processing but could be done, this requires very precise temperature’s | |
